Paul Ehrlich (1854-1915), one of the founders of modern medicine, was a doctor and biomedical researcher credited with a cure for syphilis and the concept of the magic bullet. He inspired the creation of Floriamed Telehealth.
Floriamed’s mission was developed by a biomedical research scientist. To carry out this mission, the scientist partnered with a nurse practitioner. Both the nurse practitioner and the scientist feel that healthcare in America is not as good as it should be. But they seem to differ in their ideas about how to make medicine better. The nurse practitioner wants to do so by using care, one patient at a time. And the scientist wants to do it by strengthening the essential link between medicine and science. But in the end, these two ideas turned out to be the same idea.
Both the nurse and the scientist are experts, yet from separate and distinct fields. But their partnership is not so odd. Because, as any nurse will tell you, proper care rests on a foundation of science. However in this case, the partnership is strengthened even more by the message of science. That message concerns care, a notion developed by Florence Nightingale, founder of modern nursing. The idea being that care, as traditionally used by nurses, is essential to achieving the best quality medicine. And that such care is lacking in American healthcare.
